Pure Gold Exhibition
The exhibition “Pure Gold – Upcycled! Upgraded!” 18 May - 22 July 2018 | 10.30 - 21.00 (Closed Monday) Gallery, 1 F, Back Building, TCDC Bangkok Bulky trash, waste, cheap materials: pure gold! At least in the eyes of active designers. The Goethe-Institut Thailand in cooperation with ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) and Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) is presenting you the exhibition “Pure Gold – Upcycled! Upgraded!” proposing current upcycling approaches for value creation.
Affected by global industrialisation and ever greater levels of consumption, upcycling became an urgent matter. As a result, ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) is addressing this issue in the exhibition “Pure Gold – Upcycling! Upgraded!”, online platform, workshop and conference. The exhibition is divided into 2 complementary parts: a physical and material exhibition and a virtual platform for dialogue, discussion and storage of knowledge. Working with 7 curators from Europe, Latin America, North Africa and the Near East, East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia, ifa brought together 76 exhibits from a total of 53 designers revealing diversity in value creation and appreciation within diverse contexts. The exhibition “Pure Gold – Upcycling! Upgraded!” was first introduced to the public at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg, Germany aiming to travel to different countries over the course of 10 years with Thailand as the start of the journey across the globe. At every venue of the Pure Gold tour, local designers are invited to collaborate with Pure Gold in the exhibition.
For Thailand, the renowned Thai curator and designer, Eggarat Wongcharit, and 3 Thai designers, Anchana Thongpaithoon, Jarupatcha Achavasmit and Roongtip Luilao, are actively participating in this exhibition. As a collaborative workshop for online platform, FabCafe Bangkok is holding workshops for local design students to experiment their upcycling idea and sharing the results in the shape of instructables to online platform providing a new opportunity for exchanging and developing knowledge. This exhibition is sponsored by PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, who puts an emphasis on resource usage under the concept of circular economy and develops projects to encourage upcycling and recycling.

ขยะกองโต สิ่งของเหลือใช้ วัสดุร าคาถูก และนั่นคือ “ทองคํา” สําหรับนักออกแบบ! สถาบันเกอเธ่ ประเทศไทย ภายใต้ความร่วมมือกับสถาบัน ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) และศนู ย์สร้างสรรค์ งานออกแบบ (Thailand Creative & Design Center: TCDC) นาเสนอนิทรรศการ “Pure Gold - Upcycled! Upgraded! เปลี่ยนขยะเป็นทอง”เพื่อแสดงถึงแนวทางการนาขยะและเศษวสั ดุมาสร้างมูลค่าใหม่(Upcycling)ซึ่งเป็นหัวข้อที่ เร่งด่วนจากการขยายตัวของอตุสาหกรรมและความต้องการในการบริโภคที่สูงขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องและด้วยสาเหตุนี้สถาบัน ifaจึงหยิบประเด็นดังกล่าวขึ้นมาเป็นหัวข้อในการแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้จัดเวิร์กช็อปและการประชุมร่วมต่างๆรวมถึงการจัด นิทรรศการ “Pure Gold – Upcycled! Upgraded! เปลี่ยนขยะเป็นทอง”
การจัดแสดงนิทรรศการ “PureGold–Upcycled!Upgraded!เปลี่ยนขยะเป็นทอง” ประกอบไปด้วย 2 ส่วนคือ นิทรรศการแสดงชิ้นงานและวัสดุสร้างสรรค์และการจดัแสดงบนแพลตฟอร์มออนไลน์เพื่อเป็นพื้นที่สําหรับการสนทนาและ การสร้างความรู้ร่วมกันในครั้งนี้ภัณฑารักษ์จำนวน7คนจากภูมิภาคยุโรปลาตินอเมริกาแอฟริกาเหนือและประเทศ ใกล้เคียงในแถบตะวนัออกกลางเอเชียตะวนัออกประเทศในทวีปแอฟริกาตอนใต้ทะเลทรายซาฮาร่าเอเชียใต้และเอเชีย ตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ได้รับหน้าที่จัดแสดงผลงานสร้างสรรค์จานวน 76 ชิ้นจากนักออกแบบ 53 คน ซึ่งแสดงถึงความ หลากหลายในการเพิ่มคุณค่ากับความงามและความสุนทรีย์ในบริบทที่แตกต่างกัน
นิทรรศการนี้จัดแสดงเป็นครั้งแรกที่MuseumfürKunstundGewerbeเมืองHamburgประเทศเยอรมันโดยมีเป้าหมาย ที่จะหมนุ เวียนการจดั แสดงไปยงั ประเทศต่างๆ ในระยะเวลา 10 ปี และประเทศไทยเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการเดินทางรอบโลก ของนิทรรศการและไม่ว่านิทรรศการนี้จะหมุนเวียนไปยังประเทศใดในโลกสถาบนั ifaจะเชิญนักออกแบบท้องถิ่นใน ประเทศนัน้ ๆ เข้าร่วมสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน
สาหรับประเทศไทย โครงการ PureGoldได้ร่วมมือกับเอกรัตน์ วงศ์จริต ภัณฑารักษ์และนักออกแบบชั้นนําชาวไทย ที่มาสร้างสรรค์ผลงานการเปลี่ยนขยะให้เป็นทองร่วมกับ 3 นักออกแบบชาว ไทย ประกอบไปด้วย อัญชนา ทองไพฑูรย์ จารุพัชร อาชวะสมิต และรุ่งทิพย์ ลุยเลา
ในส่วนจัดแสดงบนแพลตฟอร์มออนไลน์ FabCafe Bangkok ได้ร่วมมือในการจัดเวิร์กช็อปให้กับนักศึกษาจากสาขาวิชา การออกแบบในประเทศไทย เพื่อให้มีโอกาสทดลองไอเดียการสร้างมูลค่าให้กับขยะ และเผยแพร่ขั้นตอนการทําบนแพลตฟอร์มดังกล่าว (Instructables) อันจะนําสู่การสร้างโอกาสใหม่ๆ ในการแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ และนาไปสู่การต่อยอดองค์ความรู้ในอนาคต
